OOo2GD - surveys results

Let's start from old one ;-)

By last 2 years 1238 people used survey to say for what they are using OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs, and share with some ideas.
92% of all users uses OOo2GD mostly to work with Google Docs, next 4% for Zoho, and another 4% for WebDAV.

Here short list of those things which users wants and my comments :-)

Possibility to work with non converted documents - I like idea, but Google Docs API allows only to work with such documents when you are Google Apps user, so it will not be a feature for all users, and I'm not able to test it.

Support folders - I'm near of it, I think I will use "gmail approach", so instead showing standard folders [which may complicate UI] I think about using folders as labels in GMAIL, and about adding at the bottom or top of files list buttons with folders names to filter only given folder.

Mac OS support - yeah, I know it is broken now, and I have not idea how to fix it. If you know Java and have a Mac, I want to ask you for your help :-) If you have Mac, and you aren't Java programmer, but you are super calm, I want to ask you for make some tests (for example, you may test older versions of OOo2GD to check if any of them looks good, you may also test other Java/Swing extensions on Mac to check if this problem is OOo2GD specific)

Official Google support - lets say it in this way, my favorite comment is: "Would like official support from Google.
I think this is the missing link in bridging the Cloud OS Google Docs to Local computing.
Google should buy this from Mr. Przemyslaw and ask him to integrate it with Google Chrome OS."
;-) So I would like to make it more official, but here is move on Google side, not mine :-( But I doubt, I suppose that OOo2GD is too small to be even visible in Google logs :-)

Next survey, this time it was survey if you as users will consider donating OOo2GD with 5 USD to collect list fee for adding OOo2GD to Google Marketplace.
We have 50% votes for Nope, and 50% for Yes.
So I would rather not work on it :-)
As I wrote earlier, if nobody will want to participate, but a lot of people will want adding of OOo2GD to Google Marketplace I will pay those 100 USD it will not kill me ;-) but I don't want to spend money when nobody needs it :-)

OOo2GD help site

I started to create page with some kind of help for OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs users.
Currently it describes all OOo2GD windows and gives short description of autoupdate aka synchronization feature.

I'm open for any suggestion according to this site, and OOo2GD :-)

So go and see help for OOo2GD :-)

I also started to collect users feedback in one area.
I was asked by some users to add OOo2GD to Google Apps Marketplace. I would like to do it, but Google wants 100 USD for it. It isn't much but it is still 100 USD which I may spent on something else ;-)
So I created form where OOo2GD users may "vote" for this if I should start to collect donations for adding OOo2GD to Google Apps Marketplace.

You may vote here:

Voting for Yes you don't declare that you will donate anything, so don't afraid :-)
If you think that this whole voting, or considering donation isn't good idea, or you want say anything about adding OOo2GD to Google Apps Marketplace, please put your comments in this form.

People doesn't read...

It's sad but this conclusion appears after reading comments under post about Connect Cloud for MS Office.

A lot of people asks Google "when version for OpenOffice.org?".

Because OOo2GD can the same [as I may say from description] what Cloud Connect I put links to places where users may read about OOo2GD or download it.

And what?

Nothing ;-) People still asks "when version for OpenOffice.org?".

I would understand if they would write "OK, OOo2GD sux/I don't like it, I prefer version from Google, when it will be available?", but no. They simply doesn't read comments above and asks the same question continuously ;-)

It will be sad [for me] when Google will create theirs plugin for OO.org :-( It will be moment when development of OOo2GD will not have sense.
In ideal world ;-) they would take OOo2GD and fix it to theirs purposes ;-)
Nice dream ;-) but who in Google knows about OOo2GD?
Probably nobody ;-)

OOo2GD 2.3.0 - new documents, and autoupdate in work ;-)

After long time I present to you newest OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs in version 2.3.0.
New in this version is support for new documents in Google Docs [to turn it on in Google Docs go to Settings -> Documents settings -> Editing and check checkbox near New version...].
Thanks to this you can work on documents which shows all changes almost in real time.

You can see it on video above.
On the right side of screen you can see OpenOffice.org where I typed some text, on the left you can see open document from Google Docs [in Google Chrome].
After each saving of document in OO.org [here by CTRL-S] content of this document is in seconds moved to Google Docs where you can see it after some short time:

Currently interval for checking if document was updated in OO.org is equal 5 or 10 seconds.

If you will use autoupdate you need to know that OOo2GD has small bug causing that first update in autoupdate may doesn't work, but next updates of document will work :-)

As always you can download newest OOo2GD from OOo2GD page in OpenOffice.org Extensions Pages, or from project page.

Bloggeroid 1.2 - let's make it simpler

New version of Bloggeroid, this time 1.2.

Because last version was rather difficult to use (I know it, because I - author has problems with using it ;-)) so I tried to make it easier to use.

Saving to SD card disappeared from Publishing screen and is now available on Post Editor in Menu. Editing exiting posts was renamed to Load exiting posts, and now after choosing it you need to choose if you want to load post from blog or from SD.
Also loading post content from blog or SD changes content of post in Post Editor (generally it should be only one Post Editor).
To avoid situations when you will loose your post because you will hit Back when it will not be needed, I added special "feature" which detects using of Back button and shows text about this that if you want to close you need to use Back button one more time (exactly in 2 seconds ;-)).

Hope those changes will make Bloggeroid more predicable and more useful.

Please share with your opinions, and feature requests :-)

What sux in Android Market

Communication.

As a developer I would like to have possibility to communicate with users. If they have problems with my App I would like to be able to communicate with them. To ask questions.

Currently only way to communicate is to use description or comment, but in both cases you are limited in size (for description limit is set to 325 characters). And truly both those "channels" are intended to something other.
