OOo2GD 2.4.0 - folders and HTTPS ;-)

Today I got next e-mail from Zoho saying that they stopped supporting of HTTP connections, but users of my app are still using HTTP, so Zoho will extend time for moving to HTTPS for me, but I should change my code.
I like it :-)

So I'm doing it ;-)

As a result of this we have today new version 2.4.0 of OOo2GD ;-)

New:
- near name of document/spreadsheet/presentation in Google Docs you can see folder/collection name for this item,
- under items list in Google Docs you may see row of "buttons" named as folders/collections in your Google Docs, clicking on it will filter list of items only to those with this "label".

Changes:
- from now all communication with Zoho will be done over HTTPS (Google Docs communication should work on HTTPS from some time)

As for now OOo2GD doesn't support uploading of files without conversion, I cannot possibility to test it yet. But when Google will add this feature to any of my accounts I will start on adding this to OOo2GD.

OOo2GD help site

I started to create page with some kind of help for OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs users.
Currently it describes all OOo2GD windows and gives short description of autoupdate aka synchronization feature.

I'm open for any suggestion according to this site, and OOo2GD :-)

So go and see help for OOo2GD :-)

I also started to collect users feedback in one area.
I was asked by some users to add OOo2GD to Google Apps Marketplace. I would like to do it, but Google wants 100 USD for it. It isn't much but it is still 100 USD which I may spent on something else ;-)
So I created form where OOo2GD users may "vote" for this if I should start to collect donations for adding OOo2GD to Google Apps Marketplace.

OOo2GD 2.3.0 - new documents, and autoupdate in work ;-)

After long time I present to you newest OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs in version 2.3.0.
New in this version is support for new documents in Google Docs [to turn it on in Google Docs go to Settings -> Documents settings -> Editing and check checkbox near New version...].
Thanks to this you can work on documents which shows all changes almost in real time.

You can see it on video above.
On the right side of screen you can see OpenOffice.org where I typed some text, on the left you can see open document from Google Docs [in Google Chrome].
After each saving of document in OO.org [here by CTRL-S] content of this document is in seconds moved to Google Docs where you can see it after some short time:



Currently interval for checking if document was updated in OO.org is equal 5 or 10 seconds.

If you will use autoupdate you need to know that OOo2GD has small bug causing that first update in autoupdate may doesn't work, but next updates of document will work :-)

OOo2GD 2.1.1 is ready :-)

I wasn't sure what to do this evening, learning to SCWCD exam wasn't at the top of list of my desired thing to do ;-) the same learning algorithms and preparing for my Big Secret Plan ;-) So I decided to look at OOo2GD code ;-)

As a result of this looking we have new version of OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs, this time with number 2.1.1.
Most visible change is in Import Window, to now in window for Google Docs, and in window for Zoho you saw different formats of dates, now it is one format, and this format is "sortable" what should be helpful for those who run OOo2GD using Java 1.6.
This version should also fix problem with empty folder/directory for storing downloaded documents.
Another cosmetic change is the fact that from now you will not see message after successful upload/update.
Also error messages should be more informative :-)

In new version 2.1.0 of OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs three new things

• filtering by name of document in Import Window, you not need to look through all your files in Google Docs or Zoho, you simply may filter list of files by name, here sample how it works:
  
• if you are using Java 1.6 you will be able to sort rows in table with files from Google Docs/Zoho in Import Window
• configuration files will be now more *nix friendly, and will start with dot .

Finally I gather almost all translations and here it is! New version 1.6.0 of OpenOffice.org2GoogleDocs.

New:

• autoconversion [but with prompt] of unsupported by Google Docs and Zoho formats to supported,
• new translation to Simplified Chinese created by Steven (YoUZoU)

Also autoupdate should start to work. Earlier it didn't work because OpenOffice.org doesn't like Google Code servers... for now I moved OXT file to OpenOffice.org serves and autoupdate should start to work :-)
